NAIDOC 2026! 50 Years of Deadly!

5th - 12th of July

Each Year we celebrate the lives and acknowledge the history and culture of our First Nation Peoples.

This year there are a number of events that are available around our local communities. We encourage you to check out these events happening in our communities.

50 Years of Deadly: NAIDOC Week Posters from 1976 to 2026 Exhibition

When: Open until the 26th of July 9.00am to 5.00pm ; Location : ArtSpace at Realm, 179 Maroondah Hwy, Ringwood VIC 3134

This exhibition recognises the “extraordinary breadth of artistic styles and tell a compelling story of strength, resilience and action” as it displays the NAIDOC posters of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists from the last 50 years.

From Darkness to Light – A Journey Through Country and Spirit Exhibition

When: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and Saturday 11th July (9.30am to 1pm, the exhibitions last day) Location: Maroondah Federation Estate Gallery, 32 Greenwood Avenue, Ringwood, 3134

This exhibition displays the work of Wemba Wemba artist Jason Deane as he explores “a powerful journey of reconnection with culture, Country and spirit”. Inspired by the memory of his father and guided by First Nation Elders the work represents resilience and connections between past, present and future.

NAIDOC Week Art Tour with Jason Deane

When: Saturday 11th July 10am to 11.30am Location: Meet by the Customer Service Desk at the Realm, 179 Maroondah Hwy, Ringwood VIC 3134.

This walking tour led by Wemba Wemba artist Jason Deane, will begin at the 50 years Deadly Poster Exhibition, before heading to the Marooandah Federation Estate Gallery to view Jason’s exhibition “From Darkness to Light: A Journey Through Country and Spirit and Murrawarri artist Garen Smith and Belinda Mason’s exhibition Serving Country that recognises the First Nation men and women who have and are serving in the Australian Defence Force.

Serving Country Exhibition

When: Monday to Friday 9am to 5.pm and Saturday 11th July (9.30am to 1pm, the exhibitions last day) Location: Maroondah Federation Estate Gallery, 32 Greenwood Avenue, Ringwood, 3134

First created 12 years ago this exhibition recognising the lives and art of First Nation service men and women has grown to included over 500 portraits and stories from Australian Veterans reflecting on their service, sacrifice, resilience and identity. The exhibition also includes works by Murrawarri artist Garen Smith reflecting on his time in the Defence Force.

Book Launch: Walking the Plenty River

A Banyle Network of Uniting Churches event

The Café of Dangerous Ideas is designed to do two things: for those of us who are Christians of any persuasion – it is designed to make us ask how our faith impacts on the modern world. For those of us do not share that faith, it is designed to ask how does your morality impact on the decisions you make about various issues in our world today.

The Café of Dangerous Ideas gives you the chance to actively engage your faith and to make connections with others in the community who want to learn and discuss. We welcome you whatever your beliefs and understandings.

We usually meet on the last Friday of the month at the Sycamore Tree Café at 185 Burgundy Street Heidelberg from 7.30 – 9.30pm. A delicious supper is also provided.

Parking is available in the Uniting Church, next to the cafe.

Global Mission Partners invites you to experience First Nations Culture.

Come and join Indigenous families in their communities as "they work towards reconciled and healed Australia."

This year Global Mission Partners are running 2 immersion tours where people are invited to join a local guide to visit and immerse themself in the First Nation culture, learning about the Indigenous Communities, their perspectives and a bit of local history.

The tours available are The IMA Juraki Discovery Visit from the 9th of September to the 12th of September in Fingal Head, New South Wales and the Dhiiyaan Discovery Visit from the 27th of September to the 30th of September in Dalby, Queensland.

Both tours cost $990 (excluding flights) and covers meals and accommodation.

The Craft Group is a safe and welcoming space for people to gather and do their own crafts, share their crafts with others, or learn new skills. It encourages new friendships both within and outside the church community. We hope this will, in turn, encourage the sharing of faith, leading to a closer relationship with God and the ability to offer practical support when needed within the group.

We have tackled many crafts, including woven paper baskets, Yo-Yo (Suffolk puff) making, punch board projects, notebooks, projects using buttons, macrame (it did not beat us!), colour wheel theory, quilling, polymer clay, teabag folding, lots of card-making techniques, and, of course, a full term of various Christmas crafts.

The Living Faith Church Codgers group was formed over 20 years ago by Adrian Clark, a well-remembered past Minister of Living Faith Church.

As a group of senior citizens, we meet every Tuesday during school terms.

The format is that we sit around in the Youth Room at Living Faith Church and enjoy each other’s company. Of course, at the conclusion of every meeting, we have tea, coffee, cakes, biscuits, and sausage rolls.

Every meeting starts with 12 to 15 men present; some are men of faith, and others are not. We always begin with individual reports of what has been happening in the men’s lives. This is done in a very systematic way, so no one misses out. It sometimes takes quite some time, but this is a big feature of the group. Everyone gets listened to.

You could say we are like a Life Group without studying the Bible. The subjects we cover, though, can be very important and insightful to men.
